Lift & Move USA Career Event Popularity Soars

May 2016—Building on the momentum generated by successful Lift & Move USA career events in Chicago last summer and Houston this past February, employers continue to express interest in hosting additional events.

Lift & Move USA at Buckner (Graham, NC)Bucker Companies just finished hosting a one-day event at its offices in Graham, NC, while the L&M team moves to the West Coast for a fall gathering hosted by Bragg Crane in Long Beach, CA, on November 2.

More than 650 high school and college students and military veterans learned how vocational training and certification can provide a viable career path as an alternative to four-year collegiate degrees at the second Lift & Move USA held at the Houston, Texas, headquarters of TNT Crane & Rigging.

The first three events have generated enormous interest among local high schools and career placement groups in the opportunities that professional certification can provide in the crane, rigging, and specialized transport industries. And Lift & Move continues to capture the attention of employers seeking to identify the next generation of operators, engineers, riggers, mechanics, and sales staff.

“Given the importance of training and certification to the continued success of our industry, the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) will continue to help organize Lift & Move to make potential entrants to the industry aware of the availability of certification and how it can elevate the professional status of these occupations,” said NCCCO Director of Operations and Program Development, Joel Oliva.

“In conjunction with the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA) and industry publisher KHL Group, NCCCO will continue to help grow this career showcase to attract more young people to the industry,” Oliva continued. “The L&M team is already considering what other resources we can offer to both employers and young people to help bring them together for actual job placement opportunities.”
